This is the latest film directed by Na Hong Jin who is known as the director of THE CHASER and THE YELLOW SEA. When screened at the Cannes Film Festival in 2016, it shocked people and became a blockbuster in South Korea.

A stranger (played by Jun Kunimura) arrives at a quiet village in the countryside. No one knows when or why he came. As mysterious rumors of this man spread around the village, the villagers start killing their own family atrociously and are found with muddy eyes, burnt skin with eczema and an inability to speak. One day, Jong-goo (played by Kwak Do Won), a police officer investigating the bizarre murders, discovers that his daughter has same disease. The mysterious situation escalates to an unexpected end. Starring talented Korean actors as well as Japanese actor Jun Kunimura, it is a suspense thriller which is referred to as a milestone in Korean film history.

Directer's Profile

Born in 1974, Na Hong Jin rose into prominence following his short films A PERFECT RED SNAPPER DISH and SWEAT which received the Jury’s Choice of the 11th Bucheon Fantastic Festival.

By winning six awards at the 45th Daejong Awards for his first directorial feature film THE CHASER released in 2007, he attained wide acclaim as a “great emerging director”, “director of excellent caliber” and “the second Bong Juun-ho”. His latest work The Wailing, released in 2016, won 5 accolades at the 37th Blue Dragon Film Awards including Best Director and Best Supporting Actor for Jun Kunimura.
